The following domains are assessed when evaluating the applicability and usefullness of the intervention in the Finnish context: training, training availability, evidence of cost-effectiveness, suitability to Finnish society and services, as well as measurability and assessment of effectiveness in practice.

The Let’s Talk about Children Intervention discussion methods have been developed to provide support to parents, to foster positive relationships between children and parents and to promote a safe and well-organised everyday life for children at all times, including at home, nursery and school. Let’s Talk about Children Intervention low threshold method, comprising 1-2-(3) meetings between a social worker, healthcare worker and the parent(s).

The Let’s Talk about Children Intervention method is one of the Effective Child & Family Methods. It has previously been studied in families where the parents are under pressure from mental health problems, for example.

It is recommended that this discussion is held after an acute crisis has passed. The discussion can take place regardless of the parent’s diagnosis or condition. If the parent is unable to discuss their children due to their diagnosis, the discussion can be held with the other parent or caregiver. The discussion can be held when the parent’s condition allows it. Children may also take part in the discussion, but their involvement should be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Please note that this a summary of the full evaluation, which is currently only available in Finnish.
